Terms of Service
-
Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using the Surfward Chrome extension (“Surfward”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please refrain from using Surfward.
-
Account Registration
- You may register an account to curate blocklists, access premium features, or manage subscriptions.
- If you choose to create an account, we collect only the minimum personal data required to set it up (e.g., your email address or OAuth identifier). Payment credentials, if any, are collected and processed exclusively by our PCI‑compliant payment processor; Surfward never receives or stores full payment details.
-
Scope of Services
-
Real-Time Filtering: Surfward provides real-time filtering of search results by blocking or hiding specified domains.
-
Domain Metadata: Surfward may display domain trust scores, category information, or other relevant metadata to help you make informed decisions while browsing.
-
Minimal Personal Data: We keep only what is needed to run your account—like your email address or OAuth ID—and, where applicable, a salted and hashed password. Full payment details are never stored on our servers; we receive only short‑lived tokens from our payment partner.
-
Service Telemetry: We collect high‑level, anonymized statistics (for example, how often a domain is blocked) to improve Surfward. These logs contain no personal identifiers, and IP addresses are stripped before storage.
-
Abuse and Security Monitoring: To fight spam and fraud we retain only a minimal, short‑lived record of network signatures and related metadata (such as truncated IP information or connection fingerprints) in a separate log, using encryption when possible, and delete them as soon as they are no longer needed. Where feasible, we further obfuscate these values using cryptographic hashing or similar privacy‑preserving techniques.
-
Use of Third-Party Providers
- AI and Analytics Services: We sometimes use third‑party analytics or AI tools to help improve Surfward. They only receive aggregated or anonymized data—we never send them anything that directly identifies you or links you to specific browsing activity.
- No Sale of Personal Data: We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we never will.
- No Warranties on Third-Party Actions: While we endeavor to maintain your privacy, we cannot guarantee that third-party services will uphold the same level of confidentiality once data is shared. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details on how data is handled.
- Legal and Government Requests: If required by valid legal process or law enforcement request (e.g., subpoena), we may disclose limited data. We will notify affected users unless prohibited by law. Because we only store user-defined custom blocklists—not browsing history or behavioral data—the only information we could provide is your custom blocklist records.
-
Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
- Use Surfward for illegal activities or any actions that violate the rights of others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Surfward’s systems or circumvent any filters or features provided by Surfward.
- Reproduce, distribute, or publicly display any part of Surfward’s content or code without explicit permission.
-
Disclaimer of Warranties
- “As Is” Basis: Surfward is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any warranties, express or implied.
- No Guarantee of Results: We do not guarantee that Surfward will identify or filter all unwanted or harmful domains, nor do we guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any domain metadata.
- Free Use Limitations: Because no account is created and personal data is minimized, Surfward’s ability to tailor or provide personalized support is inherently limited.
-
Limitation of Liability
- No Liability for Free Use: You acknowledge and agree that Surfward, its owners, affiliates, or licensors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Surfward’s free version or the inability to use its features.
- Extent of Liability: Surfward, its affiliates, and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of—or inability to use—Surfward, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
-
Modifications to Terms
- Updates: Surfward reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Any material changes will be communicated within the extension or through an official update.
- Acceptance of Updates: Your continued use of Surfward after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the updated terms.
-
Termination of Service
- Right to Suspend or Terminate: We may suspend or terminate your use of Surfward at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to a violation of these Terms.
- Effect of Termination: Upon termination, you must discontinue use of Surfward and remove it from your browser. Termination will not limit any of Surfward’s other rights or remedies at law or in equity.
-
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflicts of law principles. By using Surfward, you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the United States for resolution of any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms.
